Colorado State University Receives $2 Million from Shell Oil Company for Endowment in Restoration Ecology

Shell Oil Company has endowed a $2 million chair in Colorado State University’s Warner College of Natural Resources. Mark Paschke, associate professor of restoration ecology in the Department of Forest and Rangeland Stewardship, has been designated the Shell Endowed Chair in Restoration Ecology. Paschke will continue his research on mitigating ecological impacts associated with energy development in the Rocky Mountain region.

Colorado State University Professor Bryan Willson Named 2010-2011 SAE International Fellow

Bryan Willson, professor of mechanical engineering at Colorado State University and founder and director of CSU Engines and Energy Conversion Laboratory, has been elected as an International Fellow by the Society of Automotive Engineers.
The SAE International Fellow honor recognizes “outstanding engineering and scientific accomplishments by an individual that have resulted in meaningful advances in automotive, aerospace and commercial-vehicle technology.” Willson was one of 28 SAE inductees in 2011.

Colorado State University, Fort Collins Companies Recognized for Innovation in Wired Magazine June Issue

Wired magazine’s June issue lists Fort Collins as one of “The Emerging Epicenters” for innovation and high-tech job growth in green technology, singling out Fort Collins-based companies VanDyne SuperTurbo, Woodward Inc. and the Colorado State University Engines and Energy Conversion Laboratory.

Colorado State University will confer an honorary doctoral degree on Edward M. Warner on Saturday, May 14, as part of the spring 2011 commencement ceremonies.

Gov. Bill Ritter to Head New Colorado State University Policy Center for New Energy Economy

Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter will join Colorado State University starting this spring to head a new national policy center focused on building the new energy economy, university President Tony Frank announced today.

When his term as governor ends this month, Ritter will become the director of the Center for the New Energy Economy and Senior Scholar within CSU’s School of Global Environmental Sustainability – called SoGES. His official start date at CSU will be Feb. 1.
